Environment
ABOUT TULMAR :: Environment

At Tulmar, we are acutely aware of the obligations we have to our employees and our community in terms of environmental as well as personnel health and safety.   We have implemented a variety of recycling and air quality programs to reduce our impact on the environment, knowing that we must take a lead in protecting this legacy for future generations. Through Lean Manufacturing initiatives we reduce scrap and waste in our manufacturing processes. Computerized workflows and electronic data transfer enable us to reduce paper use in our internal and external communications.   This year our Engineering Group has implemented a paperless initiative which will see paper copies of drawings eliminated as we transfer all of our technical data packages to electronic storage media.

Health & Safety

Employee health and safety is one of our key concerns. Each new staff member is given appropriate training and instruction in dealing with hazardous materials and safety procedures. Our Joint Health and Safety Committee meets regularly to review workplace safety conditions, policies and procedures to ensure that our staff can perform their duties in the safest possible manner.

Tulmar has won six consecutive Workplace Health Awards from the Eastern Ontario Health Unit. These awards recognize companies that continually strive to provide safe and healthy working environments for their employees. Working with the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA) we have implemented a number of new health and safety standards designed to enhance the working environment for our staff.
