Design Engineer - Mechanical Engineer
 

LOCATION:  Hawkesbury, Ontario

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs/revises products ensuring all analysis for form, fit and function is complete;
  • Prepares technical proposals for new products including a description of the proposed product, performance, reliability, materials and other data required to satisfy customer specifications;
  • Prepares technical manuals for products;
  • Prepares engineering change orders, test procedures, purchase requisitions, etc;
  • Creates product drawings, drawing release packages, drawing revisions and material specifications;
  • Maintains master part number list and master drawing files;
  • Supports the Design Technicians and other internal groups on technical design issues and related training;
  • Liaisons with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure designs are producible;
  • Testing and feasibility analysis for new materials and construction methods;
  • Design validation, including overseeing product performance trials; and
  • Field and office technical liaison with customers and vendors working through Sales and Purchasing.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10 years experience in a related industry;
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an Engineer with PEO;
  • Excellent knowledge of CAD drafting (AutoCAD) and 3-D Solid modeling (Solid Edge);
  • Ability to read, manipulate and create engineering documents including drawings, manuals, test plans etc in an ISO 9001:2000 environment;
  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause and systematically solve problems;
  • Strong communication skills (MS Office, Word, Excel, MACOLA, AutoCAD, SolidEdge);
  • Strong organizational and English communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to facilitate meetings, conduct training and to present information in an advisory capacity;
  • Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Knowledge of related manufacturing technology including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, RF welding, sewing, adhesive bonding, heats sealing;
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills;
  • Hands-on and practical; and
  • Ability to travel as required by the position
