2017 MARKS A GREAT MILESTONE FOR TULMAR
April 5th, 2017, HAWKESBURY, ONTARIO
Tulmar Safety Systems Inc. is proud to announce that it is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, in 2017. Tulmar’s silver anniversary is represented by a theme of growth and evolution. The company has traveled a long path on which it built itself and many strong and valued relationships along way. The journey is also far from over, still far from having reached full potential.
This theme will be represented during various events, communications and general festivities meant to celebrate this grand milestone. We hope to have all of you join in to celebrate. We would not have made it this far without you.
A word from our President
It is hard to believe that twenty-five years has gone by since Tulmar Group of Companies was formed. I have been here from day one, picking out the name, signing the legal documents and hiring the first employees. The company was incorporated on April 29th, 1992. Plant space was rented on Tupper Street. We had no offices so we worked out of Chuck Derby’s home, one of the original founders. With the company progressing, we moved into our current location in 2001.
In 2003, Tulmar Manufacturing Inc. (TMI) was formed with a Michigan location. The plant was short lived and in 2007, TMI moved to Ogdensburg, New York into shared facilities at The Corporate Centre. In 2010, TMI secured its very own plant.
Tulmar Technical Services was created when an opportunity arose to manage Air Canada’s In-Flight Training Centres in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The year was 2008. We have continued to manage these centres ever since.
In twenty-five years, The Tulmar Group of Companies have been providing safety equipment to the global defence, aerospace and aviation communities. Our products are found on Light Armored Vehicles, CF 18 fighter aircrafts, naval ships and a wide assortment of commercial aircrafts. Our equipment travels the globe from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, to the US DOD Stryker program, Australia, New Zealand, into airline training centres in Malaysia, to Thailand, UK, North America and on various aircrafts continuously travelling the world.
All this shows great progress from our very humble beginnings in 1992.
Over the years, markets change, new products are designed, older equipment gets repaired/maintained, however, the one thing that never changes are the PEOPLE OF TULMAR. I like to think that our people ARE SPECIAL. We have many loyal and dedicated employees, some with 20+ years of service. Like many companies, we have seen our share of challenges, but we always succeeded in overcoming these hurdles.
If I could sum up our “raison d’être” in a few words it would be: “WE SAVE LIVES OF PEOPLE ON THE GROUND, IN THE AIR AND AT SEA AND THE GLUE THAT KEEPS IT ALL TOGETHER IS THE PEOPLE OF TULMAR”.

To commemorate this event, Tulmar will be holding an Open house during the month of June. More will be revealed about this event and other celebratory highlights during the course of 2017, so keep an eye out for our invitations, and come celebrate with us!
