PRESS RELEASE
Zoey Williams’ Inspiring Keynote Launches Black History Month at Tulmar Safety Systems
February 11, 2025
Hawkesbury, ON – Last Friday, Tulmar Safety Systems officially launched Black History Month with an inspiring conference by Zoey Williams, setting a powerful tone for a month dedicated to reflection, learning, and celebration under the theme Black Excellence: Rising Beyond Barriers.
Zoey Williams is an Airline First Officer, Professor of Practice, and Honorary Colonel. She has flown commercial aircraft including the E175 and B737, and currently flies the Boeing 777. A highly accomplished professional, she holds multiple academic degrees and has built an impressive career at the intersection of aviation, academia, and creative expression. Beyond aviation, Zoey is an author, singer, and an emerging voice in leadership and storytelling. At a remarkably young age, she has built a multidisciplinary career spanning aviation, academia, writing, and creative expression, while navigating industries where Black women remain significantly underrepresented. She is also the author of Go Where You Belong, a book that explores identity, purpose, and the courage to claim space.
From the very start, Zoey captivated the room. Through her story, she shared what it means to move forward with purpose and to navigate uncertainty with confidence. Rather than a straight path, her journey was presented as a series of defining moments shaped by courage, self-belief, and the willingness to embrace opportunity. She highlighted how short-term discomfort can lead to long-term growth, drawing from her own experience stepping into the cockpit for the first time.
A key message throughout her talk was the importance of mentors and confidants. Zoey spoke about the people who supported and challenged her along the way, reminding us that success is rarely achieved alone and that the right voices can be just as important as skill or ambition.
The impact of Zoey’s keynote was felt immediately across the organization. “Zoey’s keynote left me feeling grounded, encouraged, and genuinely motivated to pursue excellence with intention,” shared Befii Dennis, Aviation Sales Executive at Tulmar. “She reminded me that excellence is not only about outcomes, but about how we show up, lead, and uplift others. Her story also reinforced how meaningful our work is, supporting cabin crews with reliable training equipment that ultimately helps protect lives.”
The conference sparked thoughtful conversations and questions, personal reflections, and a strong sense of shared inspiration across the organization. Zoey’s authenticity and energy made a lasting impression, and her message resonated well beyond the room.
As Black History Month continues, Zoey Williams’ message serves as a reminder of what excellence truly looks like, not just in achievement, but in resilience, community, and the courage to rise beyond barriers.
